Chapter 10 - The Legacy of the Silver Wolf

One year later.

Spring had come to Long Island. The dark, cold rains of November were gone, replaced by bright sunlight, warm breezes, and blooming cherry blossom trees that lined the stone pathways of the Duca mansion.

The war room three levels beneath the west wing had been completely redesigned.

The cold concrete walls were now painted in warm cedar tones, lit by soft LED lighting. A second executive chair—smaller, made of soft brown leather—sat right beside Alessandro’s central terminal desk.

In the gardens above, a small wooden playground had been built near the rose bushes, where six-year-old Mia was playing tag with two golden retriever puppies.

Marco sat on the terrace porch, drinking espresso while reviewing the family’s new, fully legitimate global shipping logistics network on his tablet. He looked healthy, strong, his eyes filled with the peace of a man who had finally returned home to his family.

Alessandro walked out onto the terrace, wearing a comfortable open-collar shirt, holding two cups of fresh coffee.

He set one down in front of Marco and sat in the chair across from him.

“How are the new security protocols looking?” Alessandro asked, looking out over the sunlit gardens.

“Impenetrable,” Marco smiled faintly, taking a sip of his coffee. “Though Mia did suggest a secondary encryption layer on the Staten Island relay yesterday. She noticed a three-millisecond latency gap during the morning reboot.”

Alessandro chuckled softly, a warm sound that echoed across the porch. “She’s seven years old, Marco. She’s going to make our old engineers look like toddlers by the time she turns twelve.”

“She takes after her uncle,” Marco said warmly, looking at Alessandro with deep, everlasting gratitude. “You gave us our lives back, Alessandro. You saved my daughter.”

“She saved me first,” Alessandro corrected him softly, looking out at the young girl running across the green lawn, her laughter drifting up on the warm spring wind.

Mia saw them sitting on the terrace and waved excitedly, holding up her silver wolf pendant so it caught the bright afternoon sunlight, glinting like a beacon of hope against her dress.

The hallway with no light was gone forever.

The Duca empire was no longer just a kingdom built on power and shadows. It was a fortress built on blood, loyalty, and the innocent hand of a little girl who had walked into the dark and brought her family back into the sun.
