Chapter 8 - The Motorcade to the Ball

They didn’t take the golf cart.
Instead, Emily and Adrian climbed into the spacious, leather-lined interior of the lead Rolls-Royce Phantom. The heavy doors closed with a solid, reassuring thud, shutting out the biting wind and replacing it with the calm, quiet luxury of the royal motorcade.
As the vehicle surged forward, leading the convoy of twenty SUVs up the long, winding driveway of Hawthorne Ridge Estate, Emily looked down at her hands. Across her shoulders draped Adrian’s tuxedo jacket, bearing a small, gleaming royal crest pin on the lapel—a symbol of a lineage and power Victoria Wycliffe had spent years attempting to dismiss.
"Are you okay?" Adrian asked softly, his thumb gently stroking the back of her hand.
Emily looked up into his eyes, feeling the last remnants of fear dissolve into absolute, unshakeable trust. "I was terrified twenty minutes ago," she admitted, a genuine smile breaking across her face. "Now? I wouldn’t miss what’s about to happen for the world."
Adrian chuckled, a rich, dark sound of absolute confidence. "Good. Because my parents are about to learn a very expensive lesson in humility."
Up ahead, the grand ballroom of the estate loomed larger through the windshield. Through the tall glass windows, they could see the bright lights, the clusters of chatting guests, and the faint movement of figures near the altar.
Inside that ballroom, the string quartet was just beginning to strike up the opening notes of Wagner’s traditional Bridal Chorus. Four hundred elite guests had risen to their feet, turning their attention toward the grand double doors, expecting to see Madison Vale walk down the aisle.
They had no idea what was waiting for them outside those doors.
The Rolls-Royce glided to a smooth halt directly in front of the grand entrance steps. The federal marshals immediately fanned out, securing the perimeter of the terrace, while the lead driver stepped out and respectfully opened the rear door.

Adrian stepped out first, offering his hand. Emily placed her small hand in his, letting him guide her out into the bright morning light. Her custom lace wedding dress caught the sunshine, glowing with pearls and intricate needlework.
Together, hand in hand, they walked toward the massive oak double doors of the ballroom.
