Chapter 10 - The True Vows and the Happy Ending

The chaos in the ballroom slowly settled into a stunned, awestruck hush. The four hundred elite guests stood rooted to their spots, watching in absolute disbelief as the mighty Wycliffe dynasty crumbled into dust before their eyes.

Adrian didn’t give them another glance. He turned his attention entirely to the ordained officiant, who stood trembling near the altar clutching his prayer book.

Adrian offered a warm, reassuring smile. "Excuse the brief delay, Reverend," he said smoothly, stepping up to the altar with Emily by his side. "You may begin the vows."

The reverend swallowed hard, cleared his throat, and looked at the radiant bride and groom.

Surrounded by awe-struck guests, with his disgraced parents sitting in silent, broken ruin on the sidelines, the ceremony commenced. The string quartet, recovering their composure, softly resumed playing a gentle, soaring melody.

When it came time for the exchange of rings, Adrian slid a magnificent diamond-and-platinum band onto Emily’s finger, his eyes shining with unshed tears of profound relief and adoration.

"I take you, Emily, to be my wife," Adrian said, his voice ringing clear and strong through the vaulted hall. "Through every storm, every trial, and every empire—you are my home."

"And I take you, Adrian, to be my husband," Emily whispered, her voice steady and filled with fierce, enduring love. "Forever."

When the reverend finally pronounced them husband and wife, Adrian pulled Emily into his arms and kissed her—not just as his bride, but as a man who had dismantled an entire corporate empire simply to ensure that the woman he loved received her rightful place at his side.

As the ballroom erupted into thunderous, hesitant applause from guests eager to align themselves with the new power in the room, Emily rested her head against Adrian’s shoulder, breathing in the scent of cedar and success.

The gates that had once tried to shut her out were wide open. The woman who had worn her dress was gone. And as they walked down the aisle together beneath the sparkling crystal chandeliers, Emily knew that no matter what the future held, their story had truly only just begun.
