Chapter 8 - The Shadow's Last Whisper

Two months later.

Although the main syndicate had been dismantled, remnants of the Falcone family still sought revenge.

Marcus Falcone—the younger brother of the imprisoned Falcone boss—had gone into hiding, gathering a small crew of desperate mercenaries to strike at Dante’s heart one final time.

On a rainy Tuesday night, three unmarked black SUVs pulled up outside the gates of the Moretti estate.

Inside the mansion, the lights were low. Lily was asleep upstairs in her newly decorated bedroom, while Sarah read a book in the library.

Marcus Falcone and four armed men cut through the side fence, sneaking through the dark gardens toward the rear terrace.

"Quietly," Marcus whispered, pulling a suppressed pistol. "Kill Moretti, take the kid. We use her to force Dante to turn over the offshore accounts."

They reached the glass doors of the conservatory.

Suddenly, the garden floodlights snapped on with a blinding flash!

Marcus blinded by the light, raised his gun, but before he could squeeze the trigger, a heavy hand grabbed his wrist, twisting it until the bone snapped with a sickening CRACK!

Marcus shrieked as his gun hit the tiles!

Dante emerged from the brilliance of the lights, moving like a phantom. In three swift, brutal movements, he disarmed and neutralized the remaining four mercenaries before they could even raise their weapons!

Dante pinned Marcus against the brick wall of the conservatory, his hand locked around Marcus's throat like a vice.

"Did you think I wouldn't hear you coming?" Dante whispered, his gray-blue eyes burning with lethal authority.

"Moretti... please..." Marcus choked out, gasping for air.

"You came into my home," Dante said, his voice dangerously soft. "Near my daughter."

Dante squeezed slightly, watching Marcus's eyes bulge in terror.

"I gave up my empire," Dante continued. "I gave up the streets. But if any of you ever threaten my family again... I will burn your world to ashes and scatter them in the sea. Do you understand me?!"

Marcus nodded frantically, gasping for breath.

Dante threw him onto the floor, where Dominic and federal agents—who had been monitoring Falcone’s movements—immediately handcuffed the intruders.

"Take them away," Dante ordered calmly, wiping his hands with a handkerchief. "Make sure they never see the light of day."
