Chapter 14 - Lorraine’s Desperate Scene in the Lobby

Refusing to accept that her son’s hard-won career had evaporated overnight like morning mist, Lorraine stormed into the grand marble lobby of Whitmore Tower later that morning. Her face was flushed with frantic rage, determined to stage a public spectacle and force Richard Whitmore to retract his decision.

Before she could push past the high-tech security turnstiles, a pair of imposing, broad-shouldered security guards firmly crossed their arms, blocking her path. At that exact moment, the private executive elevator chimed, and Richard Whitmore stepped out into the lobby, flanked by several senior vice presidents.

Lorraine shrieked, her voice piercing the echoing marble hall:

– Richard! You arrogant, vindictive tyrant! You're destroying an innocent man's career just because of a private family disagreement between women? Have you no shame—?!

Richard halted in his tracks. His glacial, unblinking gaze washed over Lorraine as if she were nothing more than an unpleasant insect scurrying across the floor.

– A private family disagreement? – Richard’s voice was low, resonant, and loaded with controlled fury that made the nearby employees freeze. – You publicly humiliated my flesh and blood, trampled on her character, and mocked her sacrifices to feed your own delusions of grandeur, and you dare call that a disagreement? Effective immediately, every single corporate credit line, supply contract, and partnership between your family's enterprise and Whitmore is permanently terminated. Security, remove this woman from the premises.
