Chapter 8 - The Unmasking of a Judas

I opened the black notebook to the very first page, sliding copies of the encrypted bank transcripts and signed confessions across the table toward the senior capos.
“This is the ledger of your treason, Victor,” I announced calmly. “Account numbers linked directly to your offshore holdings in Zurich. Surveillance logs proving you met with federal informants to manufacture a fake racketeering case against me. And, most importantly, the confession of your hired gunman who cut the brake lines on my first wife’s car seventeen years ago.”
The color drained entirely from Victor’s face. The charismatic, untouchable right-hand man dissolved into a cornered animal. He slammed his hands onto the table, leaning forward with bared teeth. “Lies! Fabricated documents! Isabella helped me orchestrate this entire audit to usurp power—she’s in on it!”
Isabella stepped forward, her voice ringing out crystal clear and unshakable across the silent room. “I compiled the evidence, Victor—not to help you, but to bury you.” She held up her phone, pressing a single button to broadcast an audio recording through the boardroom speakers.
The room filled with Victor’s voice, loud and unmistakable, recorded just two nights prior in the study: “Once the elders strip Dante of his authority, we liquidate the remaining assets and split the syndicate holdings offshore. Make sure the girl stays quiet, or eliminate her if necessary.”

The silence in the boardroom was absolute and lethal.
Elder Moreno slowly stood up, his gaze shifting from the incriminating documents to Victor’s trembling, sweat-beaded face. The betrayal was undeniable, absolute, and unforgivable in the eyes of the Moretti code.
