Chapter 10 - Descent into Justice

Three hours later, Flight 412 sliced through the clear afternoon skies over the Atlantic, beginning its smooth descent toward John F. Kennedy International Airport. The sprawling, glittering expanse of Manhattan came into view through the window, rising majestically against the horizon like a monument to ambition, power, and consequence.
Amara Vance sat by her window, her hand neatly bandaged with sterile burn dressing provided by the flight crew. The pain had subsided to a dull, manageable thrum, replaced by a profound sense of lightness. The manila folder still rested safely in the inner pocket of her coat, untouched and secure.
Up ahead, the cockpit door remained locked, but the intercom clicked on one last time before landing.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Captain Reynolds' voice rang out through the cabin, sounding stronger and prouder than ever. "We are now beginning our final descent into New York City. The weather is clear, and the temperature is seventy-two degrees. I want to take a special moment on behalf of our entire crew to thank our distinguished guest in Seat 2A for her extraordinary grace, patience, and resilience under pressure today. Remind yourselves, folks: never judge a book by its cover, and never mistake quiet dignity for a lack of power. Welcome to New York."
A spontaneous, thunderous round of applause erupted through the first-class cabin, echoing into economy as passengers smiled and nodded toward Row 2.

Amara closed her eyes for a brief moment, letting a genuine, beautiful smile touch her lips. The storm had broken, the clouds had parted, and as the wheels of the giant aircraft touched down smoothly on the tarmac with a soft rumble, Amara knew that whatever awaited her in Manhattan—whether corporate battles, federal prosecutors, or corrupt family members—she was more than ready to face it.
Justice had landed, and it was flying first class.
