Chapter 9 - Reclaiming the Crown

The transition of power was swift and absolute. Within a week, the Cole estate was stripped of its name, its legacy, and its history. The property was purchased at auction by a nameless holding company—backed entirely by Moretti capital—and promptly leveled to make way for a public park.

In the heart of the city, at the grand headquarters of Moretti Global, a private press conference was held. For years, the Moretti family had preferred to stay in the shadows, operating through proxies, legal shields, and quiet investments. But today, a new era began.

Elena Moretti sat at the center of the executive stage, flanked by her five brothers. Flashbulbs popped blindingly across the auditorium as journalists from every major financial publication scribbled notes furiously. The rumor mill had been exploding for days: the sudden collapse of Cole Enterprises, the mysterious arrest of Richard and Margaret Cole, and the complete disappearance of Vanessa Hart.

A prominent financial journalist stood up, raising his microphone. “Miss Moretti, reports indicate your family’s financial network orchestrated the sudden takeover of Cole Enterprises following a domestic dispute. How do you respond to accusations of corporate warfare?”

Elena adjusted her microphone, her voice steady, clear, and commanding, echoing across the silent room.

“Corporate warfare implies two competing sides,” Elena said, her gaze sweeping across the camera lenses. “What happened to Cole Enterprises wasn't a war. It was a correction. An institution built on arrogance, exploitation, and abuse cannot stand when it encounters real power.”

Another reporter shouted, “What is your role going to be moving forward, Miss Moretti? Will you remain active in Moretti Global?”

Elena looked toward her brothers, who nodded in silent, absolute support. She turned back to the press corps, a faint, confident smile touching her lips.

“For years, people mistook my silence for submission,” Elena said clearly. “They thought my name was just a footnote in someone else's story. That ends today. I am Elena Moretti. And the crown doesn't belong to those who shout the loudest—it belongs to those who endure.”

The auditorium erupted into a wall of camera shutters and shouted questions, but Elena didn't flinch. The scars on her back were healing, hidden beneath tailored silk, but the armor she wore now was forged in fire.
