Chapter 7 - The Downfall of Vance

CRASH!

The reinforced glass skylights high above the warehouse shattered simultaneously into thousands of falling shards!

Four tactical strike teams from the Moretti syndicate rappelled down through the roof on heavy ropes, firing silenced automatic weapons with surgical precision!

THWIP! THWIP! THWIP! THWIP!

Vance’s gunmen on the catwalks were taken down before they could even pull their triggers, dropping their weapons as they slumped onto the metal grates!

At the same time, heavy armored vehicles rammed through the side corrugated walls of the warehouse, tearing through the metal structure and flooding the floor with dozens of additional Moretti soldiers!

Panic erupted on the catwalk!

Arthur Cole threw his hands into the air, falling to his knees instantly. “I surrender! Don't shoot! It was all Vance! He forced me into this!”

Julian Vance turned to run toward the rear emergency exit, but Marco was already waiting at the top of the stairs, a heavy sidearm leveled directly at Vance’s chest.

“End of the line, Julian,” Marco said coldly.

Two minutes later, Julian Vance and Arthur Cole were forced down onto their knees in the center of the warehouse floor, bound in heavy plastic zip-ties.

Alessandro walked over, stopping two feet from where Vance knelt in the oil-stained dirt.

“You’re finished, Vance,” Alessandro said smoothly. “My attorneys have already transmitted the full evidence of your illegal weapons smuggling, tax evasion, and the murder investigation of Daniel Ricci to the Federal Prosecutor’s office.”

Vance gasped, his face pale as death. “You... you gave this to the feds? You’re a Moretti! You don't deal with the police!”

“I don't deal with the police when it comes to family business,” Alessandro corrected him coldly. “But for a rat who murders honest workers and hides behind fake pregnancies... the state prison system is a fitting grave.”

Federal sirens began to wail in the distance, their red and blue lights flashing against the rain-soaked windows of the warehouse.

Alessandro turned his back on Vance and walked out into the cool morning air, leaving Marco to handle the federal authorities.

As he stepped into his SUV, he pulled out his encrypted phone and dialed the mansion.

I answered on the first ring.

“Alessandro?” I asked, my voice tight with worry.

“It’s over, Elena,” Alessandro said, his tone softening instantly as he heard my voice. “Vance and Cole are in federal custody. The men responsible for Daniel’s death will spend the rest of their lives behind bars.”

A huge tear spilled over my cheek, a mixture of overwhelming relief and three years of pent-up grief finally releasing from my soul.

“Thank you...” I sobbed softly into the phone. “Thank you, Alessandro.”

“I’m coming home,” he said quietly. “Prepare Emma. We have a new future to build.”
