Chapter 6 - The Siege of Dock 9

The storm reached its peak at 4:30 a.m. over the industrial waterfront.
Blinding flashes of lightning illuminated the rusted metal cranes and towering stacks of shipping containers at Dock 9. High waves crashed violently against the concrete pylons, throwing sea spray into the freezing air.
Four black Moretti SUVs cut through the darkness, their high beams piercing the torrential rain as they pulled up to the perimeter gates of Warehouse 14.
Alessandro stepped out of the lead vehicle, his dark tactical coat whipping in the wind, flanked by Marco and twelve heavily armed men.
The warehouse heavy iron doors were locked with heavy chains.
“Cut them,” Alessandro commanded.
Two soldiers stepped forward with hydraulic shears, snapping the heavy steel links in seconds. The doors were shoved open with a loud metal screech.
Inside, the vast warehouse was pitch black, smelling of damp salt, diesel fuel, and unrefined chemicals.
“Sweep the floor,” Marco ordered his men.
The Moretti soldiers fanned out, tactical flashlights cutting beams through the darkness.
At the far end of the warehouse, beneath a rusted overhead crane, sat dozens of wooden crates stamped with international shipping labels.
Alessandro walked over to the nearest crate, prying the wooden lid open with a heavy crowbar.
Inside lay dozens of military-grade firearms and heavy crates of untaxed luxury goods—worth millions on the black market.
“Vance was using Dock 9 as his primary illegal entry point,” Marco confirmed, checking the manifests found on a nearby desk. “And he was using the Cole family’s public permits to bypass customs inspection.”
Suddenly, the heavy metal doors behind them slammed shut with a deafening bang!
The overhead halogen lights snapped on, blinding the Moretti men in a harsh white glare!
From the second-floor steel catwalks surrounding the warehouse, twenty armed men emerged, their rifles trained down at Alessandro and his team.
Stepping out onto the central catwalk was Julian Vance—a heavy-set man in his late fifties with slicked-back gray hair, wearing a rain-soaked trench coat.
Beside him stood Arthur Cole, Vanessa’s father, looking frantic and disheveled.
“You shouldn't have come here tonight, Alessandro!” Vance yelled down, his gravelly voice echoing off the corrugated metal walls. “You were supposed to marry Cole’s daughter, sign the port permits, and keep your nose out of my business!”
Alessandro stood in the center of the warehouse, completely calm, not even bothering to raise his weapon.
“You killed an innocent worker three years ago to hide this room, Vance,” Alessandro called back, his voice steady as iron. “And you used a fake pregnancy to try and steal my family’s ports.”
“It was business!” Vance spat. “Daniel Ricci was a nosy bastard who wouldn't take a bribe! And Cole’s daughter was desperate enough to do whatever I asked to save her family from bankruptcy!”
Alessandro looked up at Vance with cold, merciless eyes.
“You made three fatal mistakes, Vance,” Alessandro said quietly.
Vance sneered. “Oh yeah? Name them!”
“First, you murdered Daniel Ricci,” Alessandro said, taking one step forward. “Second, you threatened the woman who cleans my home and her innocent child.”
He smiled—a dark, terrifying smile that made Vance’s hand twitch on the catwalk railing.

“And third... you thought this warehouse belonged to you.”
Alessandro raised his left hand and snapped his fingers.
