Chapter 8 - Reckoning at the Harbor

By noon, the Moretti empire’s inner circle of corrupted associates had been systematically neutralized. Victor and Victoria were brought out into the open courtyard, surrounded by loyal enforcers and facing the unyielding judgment of the man they had sought to betray from within.

There was no theatrical shouting, no chaotic violence. In Dante’s world, justice was absolute, cold, and final. Victor stood defiant, refusing to bow, while Victoria wept openly, her glamorous facade reduced to ash in the face of absolute ruin. Their assets were frozen, their network dismantled piece by piece, and their names erased entirely from the Moretti ledger.

Dante watched the proceedings from the marble steps, the same steps where a barefoot four-year-old had changed the course of history three nights prior. The betrayal ran deep, leaving scars that would never fully fade, but the rot had been excised completely. The fortress was clean once more.

As the transport vehicles prepared to take the traitors away to a distant, inescapable exile, Dante turned his back on the courtyard and walked back inside the grand estate, ready to face the only task that truly mattered.
