The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a brilliant golden glow across the glass towers of the city.
I walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at my reflection in the polished glass. The faint scar on my cheek caught the evening light—a quiet testament to a battle fought and won.
My phone buzzed again, this time a friendly text from Jonathan Vance: “Board meeting finalized for 9:00 AM tomorrow. The merger with the European holding group is officially approved, Emma. Your grandmother would have been proud.”
