Chapter 35 - Bloodline Collateral

By 6:00 AM Eastern Standard Time, the shockwaves began to hit Manhattan.

While the unmarked Mercedes carrying my father was stuck in heavy gridlock approaching the George Washington Bridge, every banking node connected to the Whitmore family was systematically frozen by automated suspicious activity reports (SARs) that I flooded through the FinCEN interface using my grandfather's sovereign override credentials.

In their penthouses on Park Avenue and their sprawling estates in Greenwich, the thirty-seven relatives who had sat at that Thanksgiving table began to wake up to absolute ruin.

Uncle Richard, who had laughed the loudest when the gravy boat was emptied over my head, attempted to wire five hundred thousand dollars from his corporate account to cover a margin call on his commercial real estate portfolio.

The transaction was rejected. A second later, his screen displayed a high-resolution still frame extracted from the "FAMILY NIGHT" video: his face, twisted in sneering delight, frozen directly above a caption that read:

`ASSETS CONGEALED BY ORDER OF THE ESTATE OF ELEANOR VAN DER BERG.`

Aunt Beatrice, who had whispered that I was "an ungrateful little bastard who should know her place," tried to access her safety deposit boxes at Chase Manhattan. She was met in the lobby by four agents from the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation division holding seizure warrants for every bearer bond purchased under the Whitmore name since 1998.

My cousin Julian, Arthur’s chosen successor, was arrested in the private lounge of his Wall Street firm. As two federal marshals placed him in handcuffs, the trading floor monitors—thirty massive screens overhead—simultaneously ceased displaying Bloomberg market data.

Instead, they displayed the complete transaction log of Julian’s off-the-books short positions, cross-referenced with wire transfers directly from the Trustee’s shell company in the Cayman Islands.

Every single one of them was left completely naked, stripped of the unearned wealth that had bought their silence and their cruelty.

And on the New Jersey turnpike, the black Mercedes suddenly came to a complete halt.
