Chapter 8 - Ashes of the Past

Two hours later, the chaos at the cathedral had been quietly swept away by private clean-up crews, leaving the grand ballroom of the Grey Estate lit by thousands of golden candles for the wedding reception.

The guests who remained weren't ordinary criminals anymore; they were the select, surviving power players who had just watched Cassius and his new bride systematically dismantle the last remaining corrupt faction of the old syndicate.

Aria stood on the balcony overlooking the estate gardens, the cool night air blowing softly against her veil.

The heavy glass door slid open, and Cassius stepped out, holding two crystal glasses of champagne. He handed one to her, leaning against the stone railing beside her.

Aria stared at him, feeling the last remnants of her guarded walls finally crumble away. The man who had once been a ruthless mafia boss standing across from her in a smoke-filled factory had turned out to be the only person on earth who truly understood her fire.

She raised her glass, clinking it softly against his.

"To a very dangerous partnership, Cassius."

"To forever," he murmured, leaning in and sealing their vows with a deep, fierce kiss under the moonlight.
