Chapter 3 - The Mafia's New Obsession

Panic rippled through Cassius Grey’s inner circle before he managed to mask it with a dangerous, chilling composure.
He stepped forward, pushing the heavy iron gate open himself, and walked into the cage. He ignored his fallen fighter completely, keeping his eyes locked entirely on her.
"Who the hell are you?" Cassius demanded, his voice dropping an octave, laced with lethal authority. No one humiliated Cassius Grey in his own territory and lived to tell the tale—unless they possessed something he wanted even more than revenge.
"You made a promise in front of three hundred witnesses, Mr. Grey," she replied smoothly, showing no trace of fear as she stared up into his dark, calculating eyes. "Or is the great Cassius a coward who breaks his word when things don't go his way?"
A murmur of nervous tension rose from the crowd. No one had ever dared speak to Cassius like that.
Instead of signaling his guards to riddle her with bullets, a slow, dangerous grin crept back onto Cassius’s face—a mix of fury, utter fascination, and a twisted sense of respect. He realized two things instantly: she wasn't just a trained fighter, she was a ghost who had walked right into his house and exposed every single flaw in his security.
"A coward?" Cassius chuckled darkly, stepping so close she could feel the cold leather of his gloves. "I never break a promise. If you want my ring, you've got it. But tomorrow morning, you walk into my estate as my fiancée... and you find out what happens to people who play games with me."
She tilted her head, a faint, cryptic smile touching her lips. "I look forward to it."
By sunrise, the underground fights at the Foundry were the least of the city's concerns. Whispers spread like wildfire through the criminal underworld: Cassius Grey, the ruthless syndicate boss who trusted no one, had just proposed to an unknown waitress who knocked out his best fighter in ten seconds flat.
What Cassius didn't know—what none of them knew—was that she hadn't stumbled into the Foundry by accident.
For five years, she had tracked the Syndicate's financial routes, looking for the man who had ordered the hit on her family, destroyed her past identity, and left her for dead under a false name. She had spent months figuring out how to breach Cassius Grey's inner circle without raising alarms.
