Chapter 10 - Dawn Over the Harbor

Six months later, the morning sun rose over the New York harbor, painting the sky in brilliant shades of amber, gold, and violet.

The air inside the grand ballroom of the Brooklyn Heights estate smelled of fresh white roses, roasted espresso, and expensive champagne. It was a celebration of two milestones: Sophie’s official graduation from NYU School of Nursing, marked by a crisp white lab coat and a gold pin resting proudly on her chest, and the quiet, permanent union of two worlds that should never have collided.

In the front row of the ceremony sat Maria, radiant in a silver-blue silk dress, wiping a tear of pure joy from her cheek as the dean called Sophie’s name to thunderous applause.

And waiting at the edge of the stage, dressed in a sharp tailored tuxedo with a single white rose pinned to his lapel, was Antonio.

As Sophie walked down the steps holding her diploma, her heart didn't race with fear or exhaustion. It beat with the steady, beautiful rhythm of a new beginning.

Antonio stepped forward, his dark eyes shining with a pride that money could never buy. He didn't offer her a business card, nor a contract, nor a favor. He simply held out his hand, palm up, exactly the way he had that night at Bellarosa.

Sophie smiled, slid her fingers securely into his, and let him pull her close against his chest in front of the entire crowded room.

The invisible waitress from Bellarosa was gone. In her place stood a woman who had stared down the most feared man in Brooklyn—and won his heart completely.

“Welcome home, Sophie,” Antonio whispered against her hair as the room erupted into cheers.

“I’m right where I belong,” she smiled, stepping into their bright, uncertain, and fiercely beautiful future together.
