Chapter 10 - One Hundred Seven Nights and Beyond

Spring bloomed across the Lake Forest estate six months later.
The damaged east wing had been completely rebuilt, transformed from a cold, fortress-like mansion into a warm, light-filled home with wide open glass windows overlooking vibrant rose gardens.
The Orsini syndicate was no more.
Following the raid, Raphael had used his vast fortune and intelligence network to fully cooperate with federal authorities, dismantling the Valenti crime family and turning his business empire into a 100% legitimate real estate and international shipping conglomerate.
On a bright, warm May afternoon, a small, intimate gathering took place in the glass conservatory of the main house.
I stood near the entrance, wearing a flowing white silk dress with long lace sleeves. My brown hair fell in soft curls over my shoulders, and my face glowed with a happiness I had never dared to dream of.
Beside me stood Micah.
He was thirteen now—healthy, vibrant, his hair fully grown back, his cheeks rosy with life. He held a small velvet box containing two platinum rings, grinning from ear to ear.
"You look amazing, sis," Micah whispered, squeezing my hand.
"Thanks to you, buddy," I smiled, tearing up slightly.
At the altar stood Raphael.
He wore a tailored dark blue suit, looking every bit the refined, commanding gentleman he truly was. The coldness that had once consumed his gray eyes was entirely gone, replaced by a deep, radiant warmth that lit up every time he looked at me.
I walked down the sunlit aisle toward him.
When I reached his side, Raphael took both of my hands in his, bringing them to his lips and kissing them softly.
"Day two hundred and forty-three," Raphael whispered with a gentle, devious smirk.
"Are you still counting?" I laughed softly.
"I will count every single day for the rest of my life, Clara," he said, his baritone voice thick with raw emotion. "Because every day with you is a gift I never deserved."
The judge performed the simple, beautiful ceremony.
"Do you, Raphael Orsini, take Clara to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"With all my heart and soul," Raphael answered without a second of hesitation.
"And do you, Clara, take Raphael to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do," I smiled, tears of joy slipping down my cheeks.
"Then by the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Raphael didn't wait. He stepped forward, pulled me into his strong arms, and lifted me slightly off my feet as he pressed his lips onto mine in a deep, passionate, life-affirming kiss that echoed through the sunlit conservatory.
Micah cheered loudly, clapping his hands together while Freddy Kovac wiped a tear from her eye with her apron.
When Raphael finally set me down, he wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder as we watched Micah run out into the rose garden under the warm spring sun.
"No more hiding under the stairs, Clara," Raphael whispered into my ear, his breath warm against my skin.
May you like
"No more hiding," I agreed, resting my head back against his broad chest, feeling the steady, strong rhythm of his heart against mine.
The night had been long, dark, and filled with shadows—but the dawn had finally arrived, bringing a warmth that would last a lifetime.
