Chapter 10 - The Symphony of Corbeau

Six months later, the spring sun shone warmly over the rolling wooded hills of Westchester County, casting golden rays across the newly repaired wrought-iron gates of Maison de Corbeau.

The estate had undergone a quiet, profound transformation. While Dominic remained a formidable power within the New York financial and shipping syndicates, the oppressive, suffocating darkness that once defined the mansion had been thoroughly rewritten.

Inside the grand formal parlor, sunlight streamed through spotless glass panes, illuminating fresh white hydrangeas arranged with meticulous precision.

And from the open double doors of the west wing, the rich, smooth sounds of a classic vinyl record drifted lazily through the high-ceilinged corridors.

I stood near the antique mahogany console, wearing a soft cream-colored silk dress instead of my old burgundy housekeeping uniform, holding a feather duster not as a prop, but as a casual tool as I hummed along to the music.

Heavy footsteps echoed softly across the parquet flooring behind me.

Before I could turn around, two strong, familiar arms wrapped securely around my waist, pulling me backward against a broad, solid chest. A chin rested comfortably on my shoulder, and a warm, familiar breath ghosted against my ear.

“You’re missing the quarterly logistics audit in the study,” Dominic murmured, his voice rich with amusement, wearing a tailored charcoal suit without a tie, looking more like a relaxed billionaire tech mogul than a feared mafia boss.

“Marcus can handle the logistics audit,” I replied, leaning back against him with a contented sigh, tilting my head to rest against his shoulder. “I’m currently conducting an essential acoustic evaluation of the west wing.”

Dominic chuckled, pressing a soft, lingering kiss against the side of my neck. “And how is the evaluation proceeding, Dr. Vance?”

“Exceptional,” I smiled, turning around in his embrace to wrap my arms around his neck, looking up into his dark, devoted eyes. “Though the chief executive of the estate still needs to work on his dance steps.”

Dominic raised an eyebrow, a slow, magnetic smile touching the corners of his mouth. “Is that a challenge, Mrs. Vale?”

“Consider it a mandatory executive wellness directive,” I whispered playfully.

As the soft jazz notes echoed through the sunlit halls of Maison de Corbeau, the most feared mafia boss in Westchester County pulled his wife close, spinning her gracefully across the polished hardwood floors of the estate he had once fortified against the world.

The silence of the mansion was gone, replaced by something infinitely better: a symphony of life, laughter, and enduring love written on our own terms.
