Chapter 9 - THE CLIFFSIDE VOWS

The wedding day arrived under a cloudless blue sky.
A simple white wooden arbor stood at the edge of the coastal cliff, decorated with white roses, lavender, and eucalyptus. Twenty close friends, Clara, and the household staff who had supported us sat on cedar benches facing the ocean.
Julian stood at the altar, wearing a tailored navy suit, looking striking and handsome, his eyes locked onto the path leading down from the house.
The music—a gentle acoustic guitar melody—began to play.
Sophia walked down the aisle first, wearing a tiny white lace dress with a blue ribbon tied around her waist. She carried a small basket of rose petals, scattering them with absolute enthusiasm and little precision, making everyone laugh.
Then came my turn.
I wore an elegant, off-the-shoulder silk gown that flowed around my curves like water, holding a bouquet of wild sea lavender and white roses. My dark hair was swept up in loose curls, held by a simple pearl comb.
As I walked toward Julian, his silver eyes filled with tears.
When I reached him, he took both my hands in his, his fingers warm, solid, and trembling with deep emotion.
The minister spoke warm words about resilience, truth, and enduring love, but when it came time for our vows, Julian spoke from his heart without looking at his notes.
“Elena,” Julian said, his voice deep and resonant. “Two years ago, a storm brought me to your door, and I learned what it meant to truly live. When lies tried to tear us apart, your courage brought me back. I promise to honor you, to protect you, and to build a life with you where no lie can ever touch us again. You are my strength, my love, and my home.”
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I looked into his eyes.
“Julian,” I whispered. “I loved you when you were just a stranger recovering on a quiet shore. I loved you through two years of darkness. And I love you today as my husband, my partner, and the father of our child. I am yours, completely and forever.”
May you like
“By the authority vested in me,” the minister announced, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
Julian didn't hesitate. He pulled me into his arms and kissed me deeply, as the sound of crashing waves and the cheers of our loved ones filled the bright air.
