Chapter 9 - A REAL CELEBRATION

One year after the dinner at The Grand View Manor.
The setting was the dining room of The Botanical Glasshouse—a stunning, sunlight-filled restaurant surrounded by lush greenery, blooming rare orchids, and delicate glass architecture.
It was Arthur and Elena’s 35th wedding anniversary.
Claire had rented out the entire garden pavilion for the evening.
At the center of the beautiful wooden table sat Arthur and Elena, glowing with joy. Surrounding them were true friends—retired teachers, long-time neighbors from 4th Street, and Marcus Vance, who had become a close family friend.
Beside Claire sat Julian.
As the second course was cleared away, Julian quietly stood up, lifting his crystal glass of sparkling cider.
The room fell into a warm, expectant quiet.
"I’d like to offer a toast," Julian said, his voice deep, warm, and reverberating through the room.
He looked down at Arthur and Elena with profound respect.
"To Arthur and Elena," Julian said softly. "Thirty-five years ago, you two built a marriage based on loyalty, kindness, and unyielding dignity. You raised a daughter who possesses the strength of a mountain and the heart of an angel."
He turned his eyes toward Claire, his expression filled with deep, unwavering affection.
"You taught her never to confuse kindness with permission. And in doing so, you showed all of us what real love and self-respect look like."
Julian raised his glass high. "To thirty-five more years of love, family, and truth."
"To Arthur and Elena!" the table cheered in unison.

Arthur wiped a happy tear from his eye, reaching across the table to clasp Elena’s hand tightly.
Claire leaned her head against Julian’s shoulder, feeling his arm wrap warm and secure around her waist. She closed her eyes for a moment, listening to the golden laughter of her parents and the genuine warmth of people who truly loved them.
