Chapter 6 - The Boardroom Execution

What happened behind the closed doors of *Mercer Commercial Holdings* at ten o'clock that morning was described to me later by Arthur with clinical precision.

Greg had strutted into the 14th-floor boardroom wearing his custom Italian suit, carrying a leather portfolio, radiating the false confidence of a man who believed his viral post had given him cultural leverage. He expected a routine discussion about quarterly overhead.

Instead, he found Eleanor sitting at the head of the twenty-seat mahogany table. Flanking her were Arthur Vance, two forensic accountants from a prominent regional auditing firm, and a court stenographer.

On the table in front of Greg’s chair sat two thick, black three-ring binders.

"Sit down, Gregory," Eleanor said.

Greg scoffed, tossing his portfolio onto the table. "Mom, if this is about Sarah, you’re wasting your time. She’s sick. She’s got you completely wrapped around her finger, and frankly, after the stunt she pulled with Tiffany yesterday, I’m not backing down. Holloway is filing for immediate emergency custody this afternoon."

"Open the binder, Gregory," Eleanor said softly.

"I’m not reading Sarah’s lies—"

"Open the binder."

Greg scowled, pulled the top binder toward him, and flipped the cover.

Inside were four hundred pages of itemized banking records, corporate expense accounts, and credit card statements. Every single line item highlighted in neon yellow was an unauthorized personal expense:

- A $4,200 weekend trip to Cabo San Lucas billed as "client acquisition."

- An $850 dinner at a Michelin-star steakhouse on a night when no clients were in town.

- The monthly lease on Miss Tiffany Vance’s apartment downtown, categorized as "temporary design studio rental."

- Her pink sports car, cataloged as a "fleet promotional asset."

Greg’s face lost every drop of color. The arrogant sneer vanished, replaced by an expression of sheer, suffocating dread.

"This... this is standard industry write-offs," he stammered, his voice losing its pitch. "Everyone does this. My accountant approved this—"

"Your company accountant works for the holding firm, Gregory," Arthur Vance interjected, sliding a second document across the table. "And yesterday afternoon, under threat of criminal conspiracy charges, he signed an affidavit stating that every single one of these allocations was made under your direct, coercive instruction."

"You’re trying to set me up," Greg whispered, his eyes darting frantically between Arthur and his mother. "Mom... you can’t do this to me. I’m your son!"

Eleanor leaned forward, her silver hair catching the morning light, her eyes unblinking.

"You called me mentally incapacitated on the public internet four hours ago, Gregory. You attempted to shame the mother of your child before her entire community. You dragged an innocent eight-year-old boy into your sordid little ego trip."

She pushed the second binder toward him.

"This second folder contains the formal termination of your employment as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. It also contains the foreclosure notice on your downtown lease and the revocation of the corporate vehicles."

"No... you can’t fire me! I built this branch!"

"You built nothing," Eleanor said, her voice dropping into a harsh whisper. "You inherited an empire and treated it like a playground. Now, here are your terms."

Arthur slid a single sheet of paper across the polished wood.

"You will immediately delete every social media post referencing Sarah, Leo, or this family," Arthur stated. "You will instruct Holloway to withdraw the custody modification petition with prejudice. You will surrender all unsupervised visitation rights until you complete six months of court-monitored psychiatric evaluation and parenting classes. You will pay your past-due child support balance of twenty-two thousand dollars by five o'clock tomorrow afternoon."

Greg stared at the paper. "And if I don't?"

"If you don't," Eleanor said, rising slowly from her chair, "Arthur delivers the first binder to the United States District Attorney’s office at twelve-fifteen. You will be indicted for corporate wire fraud and tax evasion before Leo gets out of school. Choose."

Greg sat there, frozen, his chest heaving, the reality of his complete destruction finally penetrating his narcissistic skull.
