Chapter 5 - The Legal Counter-Strike

The legal battle escalated into an all-out war. Evelyn Vance proved to be every bit the legal powerhouse her reputation promised.
In a high-stakes court hearing before Judge Thomas Sterling (no relation to the defense attorney), Evelyn presented an airtight case. She laid out the medical records from the night of the wedding, the high-definition forensic video analysis of the assault, and the irrefutable land registry documents proving the house on Juniper Avenue was purchased solely with my independent funds.
Gregory’s defense team tried every trick in the book. They argued that the push was a "reflexive parental correction" provoked by my "insubordinate public outburst."
Judge Sterling didn't even try to hide his disdain. "Counsel," the judge remarked dryly, "slamming a thirty-something-year-old adult's head into a marble pillar because she dared to state property facts is not 'parental correction.' It is aggravated assault and battery. Furthermore, attempting to gift someone else's real estate without power of attorney or ownership rights borders on grand larceny."
The judge ruled immediately:
The emergency asset freeze on Gregory Hart's personal accounts would remain in effect to secure potential damages for the civil suit.
An official injunction was placed preventing any transfer, sale, or encumbrance of the property on Juniper Avenue, officially recognizing me as the sole, undisputed legal owner.
Criminal charges for assault and battery were formally referred to the District Attorney's office for immediate indictment.

Meanwhile, Olivia's picture-perfect fairytale wedding was turning into an absolute nightmare. Her new husband, Jonathan—scion of a wealthy old-money banking family—found himself facing intense social scrutiny. His family, terrified of being linked to a disgraced, scandal-ridden criminal, pressured Jonathan to distance himself from the Harts.
By the end of the second week, rumors circulated that Jonathan had packed his bags and moved out of their temporary honeymoon suite, leaving Olivia alone to face the wreckage of her social standing.
