Chapter 10 - A New Horizon

The morning sun washed over the Gold Coast estate in a brilliant cascade of amber and gold, painting the tall brick chimneys and manicured lawns with the quiet beauty of a new beginning.

David stood on the rear stone terrace, a cup of hot black coffee in his hand, watching the gentle ripples of Lake Michigan in the distance. The air was crisp, carrying the clean, invigorating scent of autumn.

Inside the kitchen, he could hear the faint, comforting sounds of Teresa moving about—dishes clinking softly, the rich aroma of roasted coffee beans and fresh pastries drifting through the open doorway.

The nightmare was over. The deceit had been stripped away, leaving only the truth of who he was, what he had built, and the people who truly mattered.

He took a slow sip of his coffee, looking out over the sprawling expanse of his property. For the first time in his life, the house didn't feel like a fortress guarding against unseen threats.

It felt like a home.

David smiled softly, turned back toward the warmth of the kitchen, and stepped inside to start his day.
