Chapter 10 - The Horizon

The music swelling across the upper deck of the yacht was a smooth, melancholic jazz melody that drifted out over the calm waters of Boston Harbor.

The past—the suffocating Brookline house, the betrayal, the blood on the hospital floor, the cold text messages sent from a beach in Cabo—felt like a lifetime away, erased by the sheer, relentless force of a man who had built an empire just to carve out a place for us.
“Where to next, Mr. Russo?” I asked softly, resting my head against his shoulder as we swayed to the rhythm of the music. “Do we conquer the shipping lanes next, or should I start designing a new logo for your private security firm?”
Dominic chuckled, a rich, vibrating sound that I could feel directly against my ribs. He pulled me closer, his hand splaying firmly across the small of my back, anchoring me to him with absolute certainty.

“We go nowhere, Rachel,” he whispered against my hair, his voice carrying the weight of a sacred vow. “We stay right here. The empire is secure. The debt is paid. And you... you never have to look over your shoulder again.”
I closed my eyes, breathing in the scent of cedarwood, salt air, and absolute safety. The storm had passed, leaving behind no wreckage—only a clear horizon, a brilliant dawn, and a future that belonged entirely to us.
