Chapter 10 - The Timeline of a Family

Spring arrived in Connecticut six months later, melting the last traces of winter ice into green grass and blooming white cherry blossoms across the Hail estate.

On a warm afternoon in May, a small, intimate ceremony was held in the glass conservatory at the edge of the gardens.

There were no massive crowds, no high-society reporters, and no pretentious displays of wealth. Just thirty close friends, the estate staff who had become like family, and three very excited children.

I wore a simple, breathtaking lace dress that flowed softly around my feet.

When I walked down the aisle lined with fresh white roses, Marcus was waiting for me at the altar. His eyes were bright with emotion, his dark hair catching the warm afternoon sunlight filtering through the glass roof.

Standing right beside him as his best men were seven-year-old twins Leo and Noah, both wearing handsome dark tuxedos. And walking right in front of me, carrying a small basket of rose petals, was four-year-old Lily, wearing a tiny white dress with a small embroidered strawberry hidden discreetly inside her pocket.

We exchanged our vows quietly, promising to respect, honor, and protect each other for the rest of our lives.

When Marcus slid a delicate platinum band onto my finger, he leaned in and whispered softly against my ear:

“No more security logs, Mrs. Hail.”

I smiled up at him through tears of pure joy. “Oh, I’m still keeping a timeline, Marcus. But from now on, I’m only logging the good days.”

After the ceremony, as guests gathered on the sunny terrace for champagne and cake, I walked back inside the main mansion alone for a moment to catch my breath.

I stood in the center of the grand marble foyer.

Eighteen months ago, I had stood on these exact white tiles in a faded maid uniform, terrified, broken, and six months behind on medical bills, listening to a cruel woman demand my arrest over a broken ceramic bowl.

Now, the light coming through the two-story windows was warm and bright.

I pulled a small, black hardcover notebook from my purse—the original notebook I had bought for three dollars at the drugstore.

I opened to the very last page, pulled out a pen, and wrote my final entry:

May 15th – 03:30 PM.

Location: Grand Conservatory, Hail Estate.

Status: Family complete. No missing pieces. Safe forever.

I closed the notebook, set it gently inside the top drawer of the mahogany entryway table, and turned around as the heavy front doors swung open.

Marcus walked into the foyer, holding Lily in his arms while Leo and Noah ran past them, laughing and chasing a yellow butterfly toward the garden.

“Ready to join the party, my love?” Marcus asked, extending his free hand toward me.

I looked at my husband, my daughter, and my sons.

May you like

“Yes,” I answered, taking his hand tightly in mine. “I’m ready.”

Together, we walked out into the warm spring sunshine, stepping forward into the beautiful, unwritten future we had built together.
